Gazhane: The Location Hasanpasa Gazhanesi, Kadiköy Istanbul An empty historical wasteland in the heart of Istanbul's Kadiköy district The 1993 disused gasworks "Gazhane" in Kadiköy offers enough space and opportunities to accommodate all of our planed activities. Located on the Asian part of Istanbul, (the only metropolis, on 2 continents) 1.8 km from Kadiköy's coast in Hassan Pasa extends the approximately 20,000 m2 big industrial area. With "Trans Yapit" a concept for "Gazhane" will be realized, which will weave the artistic program with the versatile possibilities of the unusual area and will make the potential and charm of this unique place experienceable. The festival will use the area for the first time for artistic purposes in a large extent; it supports thereby the request of the district Kadiköy to welcome in the coming years the development of an artistic-cultural centre. The Kadiköy district has about one million inhabitants and is a modern and metropolitan district with many interesting faces. The site of the Marmara Sea is a special attraction.
