	BERLIN LACHT! E.V. Berlin lacht! e.V. is an association serving the public good with the purpose to support and enhance street theatre art and culture. This support refers to the acceptance of the circus and street theatre art in the politico-cultural context as well as to the financial and organisational assistance for the artists' projects. The association understands itself as an interdisciplinary and intercultural working network. Here artists out of the domains of dance, plastic, visual, media, circus and performance art are involved. The different genres are connected by the collective ambition of designing the public space. Preferentially young artist are supported. Encouraging young talent is a central element of the association. Another objective is to create a network, which enables the worldwide contact between street theatre artists. This facilitates the formation of communities of interests and sponsoring capable of acting. Organized for five years by Berlin lacht! e.V., the international street theatre festival in Berlin is the best example. In 2007 it had about 50.000 visitors. In 2008 it will take place on three stages with 200 artists out of 20 nations. The first festival has already been accompanied with workshops for children and adults regarding theatre and circus art. This interactive inviting approach is fixed in the articles of association. Since 2006 the festival has been expanded to an international platform of meeting for artists and a 12-day artist exchange with 35 adolescents of 5 countries. The EU commission programme "Youth for Europe" supports this annual exchange. Central point of the meeting is the collective creation of plays, which broach the issue of future visions for Europe.
